For factual guidance, we prefer UK regulators, government-backed services and official provider information. Every guide shows a review date and links to the most useful primary source.
We show the catches
A cheap headline can hide fees, exclusions, annual rises or weaker cover. We focus on full cost, important terms and what could go wrong before someone switches.
We protect essential services
The Check will not tell someone to simply cancel energy, a mortgage, required insurance, debt repayments or a pension. In higher-risk areas, it points people towards appropriate guidance or regulated advice.
Editorial standards
Useful beats impressive.
Plain English: short sentences, familiar words and no unexplained financial jargon.
Current information: important facts are dated and reviewed. Prices, rules and products can change, so readers should check current terms before acting.
No false certainty: we do not promise the cheapest deal or claim that one comparison service covers the whole market.
